You get a private boat through Venice's Grand Canal and hidden canals with a guide for two hours, then walk through the real Venice — the squares and streets locals use — stopping for pastry, coffee, or wine along the way. The boat holds a small group and is partly covered; the route adjusts with the tide but always includes the Basilica dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo and Madonna dell'Orto Church.
What if the only way to really see Venice was to stop looking at postcards and start moving through it like water does? The boat leaves from the Grand Canal — you're on a private motor launch that holds eight or nine people, partly covered, moving slow enough to actually see the palaces and churches lining the water instead of just passing them. Forty-five minutes takes you through the main canal and into the narrower routes of Cannaregio, where the Basilica dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo sits right on the water and the Madonna dell'Orto Church rises up with its Tintoretto paintings visible from the boat itself. Depending on the tide, the route shifts — sometimes you swing past the Giudecca Canal to see the Palladian villas, sometimes a gondola shipyard where they still build them by hand.
The second half is where it gets real. After the boat tour, your guide walks you through the back streets of Venice — the ones that don't appear on the tourist maps, past Marco Polo's house (from the outside), through a maze of narrow passages and hidden squares called campi. You stop at a patisserie for a pastry and coffee, or if it's later in the day, cicchetti and a glass of wine. It's the kind of stop that feels accidental, like you wandered in yourself, except someone who actually knows Venice is there explaining what you're looking at. The whole thing runs two hours, and the boat is partly open to the air, so bring a jacket if the weather turns.
High water can make the boat rock a bit, and the itinerary might shift slightly depending on conditions, but the tour runs in all weather. Just dress for it. If you have mobility issues or need a wheelchair, this one won't work — boarding means stepping down onto the boat, and the narrow streets afterward aren't flat.

Is this one for you?Book this if you want to see Venice from the water and then on foot without arranging a boat separately or navigating the back streets alone — the private boat and local guide handle both, and the food stop gives you a real pause in the rhythm instead of rushing between sights.
