You climb to the chapel itself and look down into Turin Cathedral below, where the Shroud is kept sealed in a glass case in controlled darkness—not visible, but you stand in the space built specifically to house it. The guide fills in the architecture, the history of the fire, and the peculiarities of how the chapel was rebuilt. If you want to enter the Cathedral itself and stand closer to where the Shroud rests, that's possible on request during the Cathedral's open hours and outside of Mass times, though the Shroud itself remains sealed and not on view.
