The Experience

Luisa leads you through Turin with the knowledge of someone born and raised in the city. She holds a professional guide license and studied history, archaeology, art history, and restoration of cultural heritage — the kind of background that turns a walk through the streets into a reading of the layers underneath them. The tour moves between the grand formal spaces and the hidden corners: the Royal Palace courtyard and gardens, the Royal Church of San Lorenzo (a Renaissance structure built over three medieval churches), the archaeological park where Roman theatre walls and gates still mark the ancient city, and Piazza San Carlo, the financial and architectural heart where the city's money and power have always gathered.

You'll see the Mole Antonelliana from the outside — the narrow, soaring tower that is Turin's symbol everywhere else in the world, originally designed as a synagogue and now housing the Cinema Museum. The Royal Church of San Lorenzo, designed by Guarino Guarini, was the first place in Turin to hold the Holy Shroud; the chapel itself is a jewel of Renaissance architecture with a bell tower that once connected directly to the Shroud's chapel. The tour also passes through the covered porches under the noble palaces where cinemas and shops now sit, and touches on the Dominican friars' history and the Counter-Reformation's mark on the city. If you want to enter museums or see the Holy Shroud itself through the Royal Museums, those entries are arranged separately and charged to you at checkout.

The tour is wheelchair accessible, and all areas and surfaces are navigable. Strollers work for infants and small children, and service animals are welcome. Public transport is nearby if you need it. You'll want to provide a WhatsApp number for urgent communication — it helps Luisa coordinate timing and give you better service on the day.

Top questions

What is the Holy Shroud chapel like, and can I see the actual Shroud on this tour?

The Royal Church of San Lorenzo houses the chapel that once held the Holy Shroud directly; the church itself is a Renaissance jewel with a bell tower connecting to that sacred space. Seeing the Shroud itself requires a separate museum ticket through the Royal Museums, which you can add at checkout if you want to go inside.

Does the tour go inside the Royal Palace, or do I only see it from outside?

The Royal Palace tour covers the courtyard and gardens; the palace itself is seen from the outside unless you arrange a separate visit. Luisa can plan a different tour structure if you want interior access, which would involve additional museum entry fees.

How long does the tour take, and what is the pace like?

The tour runs two to three hours depending on your interests and how long you spend at each stop. It is suitable for all physical fitness levels, and the pace is set by the group and by Luisa's knowledge — she adjusts based on what interests you most.

What language is the tour in?

Luisa leads tours in English, Italian, or French. Let her know your preference when you book.

What is the Mole Antonelliana, and why is it important to Turin?

The Mole Antonelliana is a narrow, slender tower built in glass and metal as an example of early twentieth-century art nouveau architecture. It is the symbol of Turin recognized around the world. Originally designed as a synagogue, it now houses the Museum of Cinema and is seen from the outside on the tour, though you can visit the interior on a dedicated separate tour if you choose.

Will I walk through the Roman archaeological park, and what will I see there?

Yes, the tour includes the archaeological park where Roman theatre walls and gates of the ancient city are still visible under modern Turin. It is a place where the layers of the city's history are literally underfoot.
