The experience

The tour begins at the lady's statue in Piazza C.L.N., where your guide gives you a quick overview of how the city is laid out and what you should prioritize during your time in Turin. From there you walk to Piazza San Carlo, the largest square in the city and the one where writers, politicians and artists historically gathered in the cafés that frame it. The guide takes you through the alleys of the old Roman Quadrilateral district, then shows you Porta Palatina, the best-preserved Roman gate in the world and a UNESCO Heritage site.

The route continues to the Cathedral of John the Baptist, which holds the Holy Shroud, then opens onto Piazza Castello where the Royal Palace and Palazzo Madama sit. Palazzo Madama carries Turin's history from the Roman age through to when it housed the first Senate of United Italy. You head toward elegant Via Po with its arcades, stopping in front of the Mole Antonelliana, home to the National Museum of Cinema and the icon of Turin itself. The walk ends at the Po riverfront with a view of the hills surrounding the city.

Two hours is long enough to understand the city's spirit and the connections between its main landmarks, but short enough to leave your afternoon free for deeper exploration. Your guide speaks English or Italian and can advise you on restaurants, neighborhoods and sites worth returning to on your own.

Is this one for you?Two hours leaves your afternoon open for lunch or a museum visit after the tour ends, so you can act on the guide's recommendations without rushing. If you need more time to linger at individual sites or enter buildings, a private tour gives you the flexibility to adjust the pace, though the standard route covers the essentials of the city layout in one morning or early afternoon.
