The route follows the western shore, moving through villages that preserve the lake's old character. Cernobbio holds Villa d'Este, a cardinal's summer residence from 1568 now a luxury hotel, its gardens descending to the water. Moltrasio passes Villa Le Fontanelle, where Versace lived and entertained in the 1970s. Torno sits quiet with Villa Taverna, a 16th-century residence still ringed by cypress and terraced gardens.
