Step-by-step itinerary
Visit Santa Croce Basilica in Florence
- Enter Santa Croce Basilica
- See sepulchers of famous figures
- View tombs in the pavement
- Admire altars by Vasari
- Explore chapels with frescoes
- Respect dress code for entry
The Experience
Santa Croce Basilica is built in the Franciscan tradition with a T-shaped base and three naves, holding the sepulchers of Michelangelo Buonarroti, Galileo Galilei, Niccolò Machiavelli and many other important Italian artists, writers and scientists. Inside you'll see tombs set into the pavement, altars designed by Vasari, and chapels decorated with frescoes from the 12th century onward by masters like Giotto and Agnolo Gaddi. The skip-the-line ticket gets you past the queue at the door and straight to the entrance.
Your ticket includes access to the entire Monumental Complex: the Basilica itself, the cloisters, and the Museo dell'Opera. After booking, you'll receive a voucher to print and bring with you. This printed ticket is what you show at entry, not the confirmation email. The museum will confirm the closest available time on your requested date if your preferred slot sells out. Plan for one to two hours to move through the Basilica and the connected spaces at your own pace.
Santa Croce is a working place of worship, so visitors must cover shoulders, arms and legs. Entry will be denied without appropriate attire. The site is fully wheelchair accessible, and public transportation stops are nearby. Children from age 11 are welcome. Younger children must sit on an adult's lap. You can add a digital audio guide at checkout to learn more about the artworks and burials as you walk through.

Is this one for you?The skip-the-line access cuts through the queue that builds outside Santa Croce, which is especially valuable on busy afternoons when the line can stretch around the building. If you want to spend your time looking at the frescoes and tombs instead of waiting at the door, this ticket saves you that wait.

Top questions
Can children come?
11 to 17 years. Under 11: no ticket type, they can't be added to a booking.
What's actually inside Santa Croce Basilica that I'd be seeing?
The Basilica holds the tombs of Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli and other Renaissance figures buried in the pavement and in sepulchers throughout the church. You'll also see frescoed chapels painted by Giotto and Agnolo Gaddi, and altars designed by Vasari. The building itself is the largest Franciscan church in the world, built with three naves in the Franciscan tradition.
Do I need to print the ticket before I arrive, or can I show it on my phone?
You must print the ticket at home and bring the paper copy with you. The confirmation voucher you receive by email is not the entry ticket: only the printed version works at the door.
What if the time I want is sold out when I book?
The museum automatically confirms the closest available time on the same date if your requested slot is full. You'll receive the adjusted time in your confirmation.
Is there a dress code I need to follow?
Yes. Santa Croce is a place of worship and requires visitors to cover their shoulders, arms and legs. Entry will be denied without appropriate attire.
