The Experience

The Niccolai family has spent decades building these machines (250 different ones, 50 of them interactive) all based on Leonardo's original codes and sketches, using the materials he would have used: wood, metal, rope, fabric. The exhibition spreads across three floors and 850 square meters. The largest room holds the civil machines: pulleys, pumps, bridges, the practical inventions. And then the anatomical models, the newer additions, which show how Leonardo's mind moved between engineering and the human body.
