The experience

You stop at Spanish Steps, then climb to the Terrace of Pincio in Villa Borghese for a view over Piazza del Popolo and the rooftops. The route passes through the square itself, then pulls over at Trevi Fountain so you can step off and see it without the scooter.

From there the tour moves deeper into the city. You pass through Via dei Fori Imperiali, surrounded by the ancient ruins of the Roman Empire, and ride past Circus Maximus, the ancient Roman stadium. The driver takes you to the Terrace of Gianicolo and the Fountain of the Big Fountain, known locally as Er Fontanone, both panoramic stops where you get off and stand looking out over Rome. Then comes Trastevere, the charming neighborhood of narrow streets where the scooter slows and weaves, and an optional stop at St. Peter's Basilica if you want it.
