The experience

You meet at Largo di Torre Argentina and climb onto a Vespa behind a driver who knows the streets. The ride covers roughly nine major sites in under an hour: the Altar of Peace, the Colosseum (exterior only), Circus Maximus, the Rose Garden, Piazza del Campidoglio where you have time to walk around, a panoramic view of the Roman Forum with the Palatine Hill beyond, then across to Trastevere and up the Gianicolo to Piazzale Garibaldi. At Fontana dell'Acqua Paola you stop to take in the fountain and the view. The driver handles navigation and traffic. You hold on and shoot photos.

The route is built around sightseeing from the Vespa and brief stops at viewpoints rather than entry to monuments. Piazza del Campidoglio and Piazzale Garibaldi each give you a few minutes on foot to absorb the surroundings before you return to the bike. The ride ends where it started, with the driver bringing you back to Largo di Torre Argentina. Helmet, insurance and private transportation are included. The driver speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or another language depending on availability.

Is this one for you? This tour works best for travelers comfortable riding as a passenger on a motorbike who want to see Rome's major landmarks and viewpoints in one morning without the time or cost of multiple separate visits. The Vespa handles Rome's narrow streets and traffic better than a car, and the stops at Piazzale Garibaldi and Piazza del Campidoglio give you time to photograph and absorb the views.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English, Spanish, French, German and Italian.

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

Can I ride the Vespa myself, or do I sit as a passenger?

You sit as a passenger behind the driver, who handles all steering and acceleration. The tour does not include Vespa rental or the option to drive.

What is Piazzale Garibaldi and why do we stop there?

Piazzale Garibaldi sits at the top of the Gianicolo hill and offers one of Rome's most expansive views across the city. The tour includes free time here to take in the panorama before heading back.

Do we go inside the Colosseum or the Roman Forum?

No. The tour passes by the Colosseum exterior and gives you a panoramic view of the Roman Forum from above, but does not include entry to either site.

How much time do we spend stopped versus riding?

Most of the under-an-hour duration is spent on the Vespa moving between sites. You get free time at Piazza del Campidoglio and Piazzale Garibaldi to step off and look around, plus a stop at Fontana dell'Acqua Paola for photos.

What should I wear and bring?

Wear comfortable clothes you don't mind sitting in on a bike. A helmet is provided and required. Bring a camera or phone for photos at the viewpoints. A small bag is fine but large backpacks can be awkward on a Vespa.
