The experience
The boat leaves Sorrento and heads south along the Amalfi Coast, passing the Baths of Queen Giovanna and the Cascatella di Punta Lagno waterfall before reaching Capri. Along the way, your skipper points out landmarks like Tiberius' Leap, a 297-meter cliff with a dark history, and the Anacapri lighthouse, active since 1867. The route hugs the island's eastern and southern shores, where the White Grotto (used by fishermen for centuries as storm shelter), the Red Grotto, and the Green Grotto come into view. Each stop is a choice: you can swim in the calm cove near Punta Ventroso, linger at Marina Piccola with its views of the Faraglioni, or simply take in the rock formations from the boat.
The Blue Grotto is the centerpiece. To enter, you transfer to a small rowboat that holds up to four people. The entrance is only two meters wide and one meter high, so you'll lie flat at the bottom of the boat while the boatman pulls you inside using a chain attached to the rock. The cave opens into a chamber about 60 meters long and 25 meters wide, where sunlight reflects off the water to create the famous blue glow. Entry to the grotto costs €18 per person and is optional. If you skip it, the boat circles the entrance and you see the opening from the water.
After the caves and rock formations, the boat anchors near Capri's port, and you have free time to explore the island on your own. Walk the charming streets, visit shops, see Villa Malaparte (the minimalist red-facade villa famous as a film location), or simply sit at a waterfront café. Your boat waits anchored nearby and departs when you return. The full day runs seven to eight hours. You choose your vessel at checkout (options range from a small 6.5-meter boat to a 16-meter catamaran), and the skipper speaks your language. Drinks (still and sparkling water, Prosecco, beer, soft drinks) and snacks are included. Snacks on request and beach towels can be arranged. Safety equipment and fuel are covered.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English, Spanish and Italian.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What is the Blue Grotto and how do you get inside it?
The Blue Grotto is a natural sea cave about 60 meters long where sunlight reflects off the water to create a bright blue glow. To enter, you board a small rowboat that holds up to four people, lie flat at the bottom, and the boatman pulls the boat inside using a chain attached to the rock. The entrance is only two meters wide and one meter high, so the flat position is necessary to fit through. Entry costs €18 per person and is optional. If you don't enter, the boat circles the opening so you see it from the water.
What other sea caves and rock formations does the tour visit?
The tour passes the White Grotto (a light-colored cave used by fishermen as storm shelter), the Red Grotto (named for red corals on its rocks), the Green Grotto (known for its greenish water from light reflections), and the Natural Arch on Capri's eastern coast (a limestone formation 12 meters wide and 18 meters tall). You also see the Faraglioni, three famous rock formations on the island's southeastern side, and Marina Piccola, a small beach with clear water and views of the rocks.
How much free time do you get to explore Capri itself?
After visiting the caves and rock formations, the boat anchors near Capri's port and you have free time to explore the island at your own pace. You can walk the town, visit shops, see landmarks like Villa Malaparte, or relax at a café. The boat remains anchored and ready to depart whenever you return. The total tour runs seven to eight hours.
What drinks and food are included?
Still and sparkling water, Prosecco, beer, and soft drinks (Coca-Cola, Sprite, lemon soda and others) are included throughout the day. Snacks can be arranged on request. Lunch is not included, but you can eat at restaurants on Capri during your free time on the island.
Which boat size should you choose?
Six vessel options are available, ranging from 6.5 to 16 meters. Smaller boats (6.5 to 8.5 meters) suit couples or small groups and offer a more intimate experience; mid-size boats (11 to 12 meters) work well for families; larger catamarans (15 to 16 meters) accommodate bigger groups. All include the same stops and services. Your choice depends on group size and preference for a quieter or more social atmosphere.
What happens if you get seasick?
The tour is not recommended for those who suffer from seasickness. The boat travels along the coast and stops frequently at caves and coves, but there is open water crossing to and from Capri. If you are prone to seasickness, discuss options with the operator before booking, or consider a different activity.
