The Experience

The boat leaves Sorrento port and heads along the coast, passing the colorful fishing village of Marina Grande and the ancient Roman Baths of Queen Giovanna before reaching Capri. Once there, the route circles the island by water, entering the Red Grotto first to see its corals, then the White Grotto with its stalactites and stalagmites. You'll pass a villa owned by artist Curzio Malaparte overlooking the sea, the Natural Arch, and stop at the Faraglioni rocks—one of Capri's most photographed spots—for pictures and time in the water.

Swimming happens at Marina Piccola, where you can stay as long as you want. The Green Grotto comes next, and the route passes the Punta Carena lighthouse before returning toward Sorrento. The Blue Grotto is available on request (entrance ticket paid on site). If you want to go ashore, you can disembark at Marina Grande—either pay a €100 docking fee to explore the town center and eat at a local restaurant, or skip the fee and have lunch at a seaside spot the crew recommends. The skipper is a local who speaks English, Spanish and Italian, and shares tips about the island as you go.

On board you'll find complimentary soft drinks, water, beer and snacks; life jackets and snorkeling masks are provided, as are beach towels and fresh water. The boat holds five to six guests maximum, so the group stays small. The day is entirely flexible—you decide the timing of each stop, which is what makes this different from a fixed itinerary.
