The experience
The boat leaves from the coast and runs the perimeter of Capri under the skipper's navigation. You'll pass the three Faraglioni stacks (Stella, Mezzosoprano and Scopolo) each one a different height and the symbol of the island. The skipper stops to let you photograph them. The Green Grotto appears next, its water turned green by the angle of light inside the cave, and you'll see it from a safe distance. The White Grotto comes into view as a photo stop, and then the Lighthouse, built in 1862 and still active, rises white with red stripes from the headland. It's the second largest lighthouse in Italy and can be seen from 25 nautical miles out to sea.
The boat passes in front of the Blue Grotto so you can see the entrance, but entry is not included in the tour price. If you want to go inside, you can pay 14 euros per person in cash on the day, though access depends on the tide and sea conditions: the skipper confirms each morning whether it's open. Any time you spend waiting at the cave entrance is deducted from your tour time.
Marina Piccola is the final stop, a sheltered bay with clear water where the Faraglioni are visible from the surface. You can swim, dive with the snorkel mask provided, or simply stay on the boat under the sun awning. The boat has a ladder that lowers into the sea, fresh water to rinse off afterward, beach towels, a Bluetooth speaker, and a USB port to charge devices. Food and drink are not included, but you can order snacks or lunch at the beach bars nearby.
