Step-by-step itinerary

Full day Piedmont wine tour

  • Visit Barolo and Barbaresco vineyards
  • Taste wines from various producers
  • Enjoy lunch at local trattoria
  • Meet winemakers and explore vineyards

The experience

The rolling hills of Langhe hold some of the world's most sought-after wine. On this private tour, you spend the day moving between producers: tasting Barolo, Barbaresco, Barbera and Dolcetto straight from the people who grow and ferment them. The itinerary is built around two or three winery visits, each one long enough to sit with the wine, ask questions and understand what separates one vintage from another. Between tastings, you eat lunch at a genuine local trattoria, the kind where the food is rooted in what the region grows.

The landscape itself is part of what you're tasting: medieval castles sit above vineyards shaped by centuries of hands, and the hills roll in a way that changes the sun's angle on the grapes. UNESCO recognized this piece of Piedmont as a World Heritage Site in 2014, and once you're there, the reason is obvious. Your guide (English or Italian speaking) arranges the route and handles the driving, so you can focus on the wine and the people making it.

A full day here runs between four and eight hours depending on how many producers you visit and how deep the conversations go. The tour is private, so the pace and the stops bend to what interests you. If you find a wine you want to bring home, the winemakers can arrange that.

Is this one for you?The full day (four to eight hours depending on how many stops you make) means you can't fit other major activities into the same day, but it's the length that lets you sit with each winemaker and taste across multiple vintages instead of rushing through a tasting room.

What's the difference between Barolo and Barbaresco if I've never tried either?

Both come from the Nebbiolo grape grown in Langhe, but Barolo and Barbaresco are different villages with different soil and altitude, which shapes how the wine ages and tastes. On the tour, you'll taste them side by side at the wineries and understand the distinction through the producers themselves.

The tour includes two or three winery visits, depending on what you want to focus on and how much time you spend at each one. Your guide arranges the stops to fit the day and your interests.

Lunch is at a traditional trattoria in the region and features genuine local food: the kind built around what Piedmont grows. You arrange what you eat there. The tour includes the stop and the time.

Do I need to know anything about wine to enjoy this?

No. The winemakers and your guide will walk you through what you're tasting and why it matters. The tour is built around meeting the people who make the wine, not on wine expertise.

How does pickup work?

Your guide picks you up from your hotel or accommodation in the region and handles all the driving between wineries. You just show up ready to taste.
