The experience
Three hours in a local kitchen in Aosta, working alongside a Cesarina: one of Italy's network of home cooks who open their doors to teach cooking in their own homes. You'll learn to make pizza dough and shape it the way Italian families do at home, then move on to tiramisu, building the dessert layer by layer. The host teaches you their family method, not a standardized recipe, so you're picking up the shortcuts and instincts a real cook uses. Everything happens in their kitchen with the tools and ingredients they have on hand.
Once you've finished cooking, you sit down to eat what you've made (pizza fresh from the oven, tiramisu chilled and ready), with a selection of local wine and water included. The meal is part of the class, not something tacked on after. You taste your own work while it's still warm. This is a private class, so it's just you and your group with the host, no strangers at the table.
The class works for families with children of any age. Public transportation runs near the home if you need it to get there. A guide speaks English or Italian depending on which you choose at booking.
