The experience

The tour starts at Via della Mosca in central Florence and moves through the city on a comfortable bike, weaving between the narrow streets that connect the major sites. You'll pass Piazza della Repubblica, built on the site of the Roman forum, then ride toward the Florence Duomo: one of the largest churches in the world, its octagonal dome dominating the skyline. The route takes you past the Basilica of San Lorenzo, the burial place of the Medici family and one of Florence's largest churches, and along Via de' Tornabuoni, the fashion-lined street that runs toward Ponte Santa Trinita, often called the most beautiful bridge in the world by visitors who cross it.

The second half of the tour brings you to the Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge still standing in Florence, finished in 1345 and lined with shops that once belonged to blacksmiths and butchers. From there you cycle to the Palazzo Pitti on the south side of the Arno, then finish at Piazza della Signoria, the political and social heart of Florence for centuries, where the loggia holds statues tied to important events and myths. Two hours covers all eight stops without rushing. The small group size, capped at 12 people, means the guide can answer questions and adjust the pace.

Rain doesn't cancel the tour. If weather is heavy when you arrive, you can choose to walk instead, ride and hope for clearing skies, or take a rain check (a voucher valid for a year, transferable to others) to ride another day. Arrive 15 minutes early so you and the guide can assess conditions together. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Specialized infant seats are available if you're bringing a very small rider.
