The experience
You leave Milan Centrale Station in the morning and arrive in Florence mid-morning by high-speed train, with reserved seats both ways and your tickets sent by email or WhatsApp the day before. A guide meets you at a set point in the city and leads a walking tour through the neighborhoods and squares that built Florence's power. The group stays small, under fifteen, so the guide can speak clearly without needing to shout, and if the group is larger than seven, you'll wear an audio headset so you hear every detail about the Medici family's influence, the basilica's role in Florentine life, and the stories behind each landmark.
The walk moves through the Medici district and past Palazzo Medici Riccardi, where your guide explains how the family shaped the Renaissance from the outside of their first great palace. You'll see the Florence Cathedral's marble façade, Brunelleschi's dome, Giotto's bell tower and the Baptistery of San Giovanni all standing together. You pass through Piazza di San Lorenzo, visit the Straw Market where you can rub the nose of the bronze Porcellino for luck, and reach Piazza della Signoria: the city's political heart, surrounded by statues and the Palazzo Vecchio. The walk ends at Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge in Florence, lined with shops and crossing the Arno River. If you've chosen the option, your guide takes you inside the Cathedral to see Bandinelli's marble choir, the stained-glass windows and Vasari's frescoes painted inside the dome.
After the guided portion, you have free time to wander, shop or rest before heading back to Milan Centrale by train in the evening. You must arrive at Milano Centrale at least twenty minutes before your departure time, and you need to be at the Florence meeting point by the check-in time your guide provides: delays mean no refund or rescheduling.
