The experience
Three liqueurs, each one made with a different combination of local herbs and spices (rosemary, laurel, mint, celery paired with ginger, black pepper, cinnamon, coriander and others) form the core of this tasting. The producer walks through the herbs used and explains the manual production process before you taste each one. This is not a commercial operation: the liqueurs are made in small batches using natural methods, and the experience is built around how unusual and specific each one is.
Each liqueur is paired with a selection of hot and cold finger foods, all made in Umbria: chicken liver pâté crostini with Cannara red onion jam, polenta squares with pecorino cheese and crispy bacon, ricotta meatballs with aromatic herbs and celery jam. The pairing is deliberate. The food and drink combinations are meant to show you how to recreate similar pairings at home. You sit comfortably on the veranda, in the garden or by the pool at Nonna Rana Country House in Cannara, in the Umbrian hills outside Perugia.
The whole experience runs one hour. A live guide leads the tasting in your choice of English, Spanish, Italian or French.
