The Experience

You're picked up from your Naples accommodation or a designated meeting point and driven south along the Sorrentine Peninsula toward the coast. The route itself is the draw here—the Amalfi Drive is considered one of the world's most beautiful coastal roads, and the van climbs and winds through dramatic cliffs that drop straight to the Mediterranean. Your guide narrates the landscape and the history as you go, but there's no rushing: the morning is built around two stops where you have real time to move around.

Positano comes first, and it's the village most people recognize from postcards—pastel houses stacked vertically down to the water, narrow alleys, boutiques selling local fashion. You get free time here to walk, photograph, sit at a café, or shop; the stop is long enough that you're not watching the clock. Before you descend into the village, the driver stops at the Madonnina viewpoint, the highest overlook of Positano, where you can see the whole vertical sweep of it at once. From there, Amalfi is a short drive along the coast, and you'll have time to explore its historic center, the Cathedral of Saint Andrew with its golden mosaics, or simply sit by the water with a coffee.

Your final destination depends on which option you've chosen at checkout. Sorrento sits on the Bay of Naples with lemon-scented streets and a different feel—more bustling, more of a working town. Ravello is the opposite: perched high in the hills above the coast, quiet, known for elegant villas and gardens that seem to float between the sky and the sea. The drive up to Ravello takes you through olive groves and vineyards, a complete shift from the coastal road. The van holds eight people maximum, which means the experience stays intimate and the driver can adapt the pace to the group. Pickup is included, and the guide speaks English, Spanish or Italian depending on the group.
