The Experience
You start with pickup at your Naples hotel or cruise port in the early morning, then spend eight hours on the coast in a small group—typically under fifteen travelers. The bus climbs out of the city and heads south toward Sorrento, perched above the Gulf of Naples. There you get free time to walk the cobblestone alleys, duck into artisan boutiques selling ceramics and limoncello, taste local specialties, and stand at viewpoints looking across the water toward Mount Vesuvius. The Limoncello tasting is included; it happens during the Sorrento stop.
From Sorrento the route drops down the coast to Positano, the "vertical pearl"—a town where pastel-colored houses cascade down the cliffs almost to the beach. The streets are steep and narrow, and getting down to the water means navigating stairs and uneven terrain, but the vantage point from the lower alleys is rare. You have free time to explore the fashion boutiques and cafés, or simply sit by the sea. The driver and guide manage the traffic and timing; the Amalfi Coast road is narrow and seasonal congestion can shift stop lengths, but the operator monitors flow to keep cruise passengers on schedule for their ship.
Amalfi is your final stop. The 9th-century Cathedral of Saint Andrew (the Duomo) sits at the center of the seafront promenade. You can walk inside, stroll the waterfront, or order a gelato and watch the light change on the water. An optional boat ride along the coast is available here for €15 per person, payable on site—it offers a different angle on the cliffs and villages you've been walking through. By mid-afternoon the bus collects you and heads back to Naples, dropping you at the same pickup point.
Lunch is a traditional Italian meal with vegetarian and gluten-free options, but it's only included if you select a "with lunch" option at checkout. Without it, you eat on your own time in the towns. The tour operates year-round; minimum group size is two travelers in high season (April–October) and four in low season (November–March). If you book less than eight hours before departure, pickup is only available at Starhotels Terminus near Piazza Garibaldi.
