The Experience

The day starts with pickup from your hotel, port or airport, then heads inland to Ravello to see the architecture and views that sit above the coast. From there the route drops down to Amalfi, where you board a shared boat at noon for an hour on the water—the boat stays close to the shoreline so you see the cliffs and coves from sea level, but it's a viewing tour, not a swimming stop. After you return to the port, the car takes you along the rest of the coast road, the one that winds through the villages and switchbacks that make the Amalfi famous.

The eight-hour span means you move through different angles of the same landscape: the high views from the car, the close-up sea views from the boat, the stops for photos or just standing still. The driver speaks English and knows where the crowds gather and where they don't. Lunch isn't part of the package, so you'll want to eat before the boat leaves at noon or after you're back on land.
