The experience
The dive starts on land with registration and a training video, then moves to the pool for a practice session before you head to the Red Sea itself. Having a certificate and experience is not quite the same as knowing where the best reefs are or what to do if the current shifts or your confidence wavers in unfamiliar water. A local guide fills that gap, not by teaching you to dive again, but by acting as a companion who knows the secrets of these particular sites and can help you navigate them safely.
The open water dive takes you down to a maximum depth of 12 meters among coral reefs, wrecks and other underwater formations the guide knows well. The whole experience runs about 2 hours from start to finish. Public transportation options are available nearby if you don't have your own transport, and the activity suits all physical fitness levels.
