The experience

The first thing I noticed was Éamon’s laugh: loud and warm, like he already knew us. We hadn’t even left the curb in Dublin when he handed around Irish chocolates (I ate mine too fast) and pointed out the Jeanie Johnston Tall Ship. The wind off the Liffey smelled like salt and rain, and Éamon started in on stories about famine ships and families who left for North America.
