The experience
You wear a helmet filled with oxygen and walk across the seabed instead of swimming or diving. An instructor guides you through the entire experience, which lasts about 30 minutes in the water. A local boat takes you from the beach to the activity site and brings you back. The whole outing runs roughly an hour. Shower, locker and bathroom access are available before and after, along with mineral water, coffee or tea.
The activity works for beginners because you stay upright and walk rather than float or descend. No diving certification, swimming ability or prior water experience is needed. The helmet keeps your head dry and supplies oxygen so you breathe normally while watching the seabed around you. Your instructor stays with you the entire time and handles the setup before you enter the water.
Hotel pickup is included if you're staying in Nusa Dua, Kuta Beach or Jimbaran. Pickups from other areas like Uluwatu, Pecatu, Kerobokan or Denpasar can be arranged for an additional charge. The best time to go is between 9am and noon, when water conditions are most favorable. Your guide speaks English and will brief you on what to expect before you board the boat.
