This one takes you out to where the mantas actually live — the southwestern waters of Nusa Penida, where these 7-meter stingrays glide through the water like they own it. You show up at the snorkeling office 30 minutes before departure, choose your mask and fins from the provided equipment, and board a shared boat with a small group. The boat leaves at one of three morning times (08:30 am, 09:00 am, or 02:00 pm for Manta Bay; 09:30 am for Manta Point), and from there you're in the water within an hour.

Manta Point sits in the southwestern corner of the island, and the reason divers and snorkelers come here is simple: the chance of seeing a manta is 80 to 90 percent, depending on weather and sea conditions that day. The water is clear, the coral reefs are still natural and intact, and the mantas show up often enough that it's not a gamble. If conditions aren't right for Manta Point, you'll snorkel at Manta Bay or Crystal Bay instead — both have strong coral and plenty of marine life. The currents can be unpredictable, especially in the western bays, so the guides know the water well and keep groups safe.
