Plant mangroves, then paddle through the forest you helped restore.

This seven-hour activity on Nusa Lembongan puts you to work in a mangrove nursery, planting ten seedlings along the forest edge, then explores the restored ecosystem by boat or canoe. You collect and prepare seedlings, plant them yourself, eat lunch with ocean views on Nusa Ceningan, and finish by paddling through the thriving mangrove forest. A live guide in English or German leads the day, and private transportation, snacks, lunch and the boat or canoe are included.

The experience

The day starts at the nursery where you learn why mangroves matter (how they protect coastlines, store carbon and shelter wildlife), then move straight into the work. You collect seedlings, prepare them for planting, and walk to the forest edge to put ten young trees in the ground yourself. The physical work is real but manageable, and the guide walks you through each step. After planting, you break for lunch on Nusa Ceningan with views across the water and the island rhythm around you.

The second half is exploration. You board a boat or canoe and move through the mangrove forest itself, seeing the ecosystem from water level and spotting the trees that have already taken root from past plantings. The guide points out the biodiversity the forest supports and how the reforestation work is reshaping the ecology of the Nusa Islands. Private transportation picks you up and drops you back, so the logistics are settled before you arrive.
