The experience

The tour opens before dawn with pickup from your hotel at 2:30 am. The drive north takes you to Lovina Beach, where you board a boat to watch dolphins in their natural habitat. The morning hours are when they're most active, jumping and feeding in the calm waters. After the boat returns to shore, you head inland to Gitgit Waterfall, about 70 kilometers from Denpasar. A walkway leads down to the base of the falls, and the surrounding rice terraces and views toward Buleleng Beach frame the stop. The waterfall sits 300 meters above sea level on the main highway between Denpasar and Singaraja.

Lunch is served at a local restaurant near Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, the next major stop. The temple was built in the 17th century on the edge of a crater lake and is dedicated to the lake goddess Dewi Danu. Its distinctive pagodas (called Merus) honor the lake goddess and the gods of Mount Batur and Mount Gunung Agung. The lake's reflective surface creates the impression that the temple floats, and the surrounding mountains provide a dramatic backdrop. It's one of Bali's most photographed sites. After the temple, the route includes Candikuning Market, a mountain market in the Bedugul area where vendors sell fresh fruits, vegetables, spices and exotic flowers like orchids and roses, along with traditional snacks and souvenirs.

Your driver speaks English throughout the day and handles all navigation and timing. The air-conditioned car accommodates your group privately, and petrol is included. The full outing runs about ten hours from pickup to return. Entrance tickets to Gitgit Waterfall and Ulun Danu Beratan Temple are paid on arrival at each site.
