The experience

You get three separate activities stacked into one morning, each one a different kind of rush. The flying fish launches you behind a speedboat so you're towed across the Indian Ocean, skimming the surface with the wind in your face: two full runs so you get the feel of it twice. Then you take the jet ski out for 15 minutes of solo speed, and finish with 15 minutes bouncing across the swells on a banana boat with a group, the boat's tube shape throwing you around with every wave.

Pickup happens from Tanjung Benoa or Nusa Dua hotels at no extra charge. If you're staying in Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Jimbaran or Sanur, the driver charges USD 10 one way, paid directly to them. You get a changing room, locker and rest room on-site, and all the gear (wetsuits, life jackets, whatever the water sports need) is provided. A guide in English or Arabic is with the group the whole time. Rough seas or heavy rain can force a shift to a different activity or reschedule, so the operator keeps safety first.

The whole session runs about 2 hours from start to finish. Infants ride on an adult's lap during the banana boat and flying fish. The activity is not suitable for anyone with a history of spinal injuries, heart problems, asthma or epilepsy, or for pregnant travelers, so check those boxes before booking.

What exactly happens during the flying fish ride?

The flying fish tows you behind a speedboat while you're strapped into an inflatable tube, and you get lifted and dragged across the water so you're airborne part of the time. You do two full runs, so you experience the whole arc twice.

Do I need experience to ride the jet ski?

No experience is required. The jet ski portion runs 15 minutes and the guide or operator will show you how to handle it before you go out on the water.
