The Experience
The tour leaves at 8 a.m. from your hotel and heads south toward Ciwidey, stopping first at terraced rice fields and a local village for a short walk through the working landscape. A coffee break at a luwak home industry (where the beans are processed through cat digestion) is optional and depends on group timing. The route passes an old train bridge before the drive continues to Kawah Putih, the white crater that gives the tour its name.
At Kawah Putih, you hike through Patuha forest to a viewpoint overlooking the crater lake, then explore the surrounding tea plantations and a tea worker village on foot. The crater itself sits at the summit of Mount Patuha, an andesitic stratovolcano, and the lake's milky color comes from volcanic minerals in the water. After descending to the parking area, lunch happens here (you arrange and pay for it separately). The group then drives to Rancabali tea plantation for a walk through the working fields and views across the southern highlands, continuing on to Rengganis crater.
Rengganis crater is the day's final stop—a narrow river valley where volcanic steam and hot springs create natural pools of varying temperatures. Locals have built bamboo-piped hot showers and heart-shaped pools fed by thermal springs; warm mud pools are available for a natural spa soak, said to benefit the skin. You relax here before the drive back to your hotel, arriving in the late afternoon. The full day runs 8 to 9 hours from pickup to return.

Is this one for you?Book this tour if you want a full day of walking and exploring rather than a quick stop-and-photograph visit—the hikes through forest and plantations and the soak in natural hot springs are what make the day; the fixed schedule and included transport mean you don't arrange the route or timing yourself.
