The experience

The tour picks you up at your hotel at 8 AM and heads first to Taman Mumbul Sangeh, a sacred water temple built around a large pond that local communities use for daily rituals and irrigation. The site is quiet and serene: a working spiritual place, not a tourist attraction. From there you move to Taman Beji Griya, where the real centerpiece happens: a water cleansing ritual led by a practicing healer. This is not a demonstration you watch from the side. You participate in the cleansing itself, and afterward you sit with the healer to understand what the ritual means in Balinese spiritual practice.

Lunch comes at 1 PM, included in the tour price. Afterward you visit Sangeh Monkey Forest, a protected jungle area in central Bali with hundreds of wild monkeys. Unlike the more famous monkey forest in Ubud, this one is less crowded and well managed. You learn a Balinese prayer here, tying the spiritual thread through the day. The drive back to your hotel takes about ninety minutes, with arrival around 5 PM. Throughout the day you travel in an air-conditioned vehicle with your English-speaking guide, who explains the significance of each site as you go.

Top questions

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Child (3 to 9 years); Infant (under 3): free.

What exactly happens during the water cleansing ritual at Taman Beji Griya?

The water cleansing is a hands-on ritual you participate in with guidance from a healer at the temple. The healer leads you through the process and explains its spiritual purpose in Balinese practice. It is not a performance or a photo opportunity.

Is this tour really based on the Eat, Pray, Love movie?

The third section of the film, the "Love" part, was shot in Bali, and this tour follows those spiritual locations. The tour is built around the same sites and the same journey of spiritual healing that drew people to Bali after the movie came out.

How many people will be on the tour with me?

This is a private tour, so it is just you and your group with your own guide and vehicle. No other travelers are included.

What is Sangeh Monkey Forest like compared to the famous one in Ubud?

Sangeh Monkey Forest is a protected jungle area with hundreds of friendly but wild monkeys. It is less well known and less crowded than the famous Ubud monkey forest, but it is well managed and offers the same chance to interact with the monkeys and learn about local culture.

Do I need to bring anything or wear anything special for the water cleansing?

The tour includes all fees and the ritual itself. Bring a change of clothes or a swimsuit so you can participate comfortably in the water cleansing. Bottled water is provided throughout the day.
