The experience
The day starts with pickup from your Ubud hotel and a short transfer to the ATV basecamp. Once there, you'll register, get a safety briefing, and do a practice session so you know how the bike handles before you head into the trails. The ride itself runs 1 hour 15 minutes through jungle paths, muddy tracks, countryside routes, and village areas: terrain that shifts under you and keeps you focused the whole way through.
After you come back to basecamp, there's a shower and changing facilities available (subject to what's set up that day), then an Indonesian lunch before the driver takes you back to your hotel. The whole thing is 3 hours total, split between the ride itself and the travel, briefing, and meal on either end. You'll wear a helmet and boots throughout, and basic insurance is included in the price.
You can book a single ATV, you ride alone, or a tandem, where you share the bike with someone else. The Ubud pickup and drop-off is included in both of those options. If you'd rather arrange your own transport to the basecamp, there are versions without pickup as well. A professional guide rides with you and handles the instruction, so you're not navigating on your own.

Top questions
How much of the 3 hours is actually spent riding the ATV?
The ATV ride itself is 1 hour 15 minutes. The remaining time covers hotel pickup and transfer to basecamp, the safety briefing and practice session, shower and changing facilities after the ride, lunch, and the return transfer to your hotel.
What's the difference between a single and tandem ATV ride?
A single ATV ride means you operate the bike solo. A tandem ride is a two-seater where you share the bike with another person. Both options include the same route, guide, lunch, and hotel pickup if you choose that version at checkout.
Do I need any riding experience to do this?
No, the activity is beginner-friendly. You'll get a safety briefing and a practice session at basecamp before the ride starts, so the guide can walk you through how to handle the bike and what to expect on the trails.
What happens if I can't ride for health reasons?
The activity is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnancy, or poor cardiovascular health. It is suitable for all other physical fitness levels. If you have concerns about your health or mobility, check with the operator before booking.
Is the Ubud hotel pickup guaranteed?
Hotel pickup and drop-off are included only for hotels in the Ubud area. If your accommodation is outside Ubud, you can book a version without pickup and arrange your own transport to the basecamp, or contact the operator to confirm whether your location qualifies for pickup.
What do I wear, and what gear is provided?
You'll wear a helmet and boots throughout the ride, both are provided. Bring clothes you don't mind getting muddy, closed-toe shoes (the boots go over them), and a change of clothes for after the ride. Shower facilities are available at basecamp after you return.
