The experience

The driver picks you up at 8:30am or 10:30am from your hotel lobby and heads to the Ayung River in the northern part of Ubud. The river is one of Bali's biggest and longest, with high riverbanks and ripples that trace through the rock as you paddle. You'll navigate challenging rapids and calmer stretches, moving downstream past the river's sides where you can see the nature and wildlife around you. The whole run takes two hours on the water.

All safety-approved rafting equipment is provided, and a professional English-speaking guide leads the group. Once you finish, you'll have access to changing rooms and shower facilities to refresh before heading to lunch. A buffet of Indonesian food is served while you look out across the rice fields and Ayung valley. Towels and locker facilities are available, and a welcome drink is included.

After lunch and a chance to rest, the driver takes you back to your hotel. The full outing runs about six hours from pickup to drop-off. Insurance coverage is included in the price, and the activity suits all fitness levels, though it's not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health or those who are pregnant.
