Step-by-step itinerary
ATV ride and nature exploration
- Ride ATV through forests and villages
- Cross rivers and visit waterfalls
- Enjoy Tegenungan Waterfall views
- Swim or relax at waterfall
- Walk in Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary
- Observe playful long-tailed macaques
The experience
You ride the ATV yourself through Ubud's landscape: tropical forest, rice paddies, village paths and off-road trails with river crossings. The guide leads from their own bike, setting the pace and choosing the route through terrain that shifts from packed earth to water crossings. Safety equipment (helmet, gloves) comes with the bike, and the guide briefs you on handling before the day starts.
Tegenungan Waterfall is the first major stop, a cascade dropping into a pool surrounded by jungle. The path down is steep but walkable, and the water is cold enough to refresh after riding. You can swim or wade, and the green walls of the gorge make it a natural break in the morning. From there the ride continues to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary in Ubud, a 12.5-hectare reserve where over 1,260 long-tailed macaques live among three ancient temples. You walk shaded paths through the forest on foot, watching the monkeys groom and play in their habitat. They are accustomed to visitors but still wild, and the sanctuary's rules keep both you and them safe.
A buffet lunch with mineral water and shower facilities are included at the end of the ride. The whole day runs eight hours from pickup at your hotel to drop-off, with an English-speaking driver handling transport and guidance throughout.

Top questions
Can I ride an ATV if I've never done it before?
Yes. The guide briefs all riders on how to handle the bike before the day starts, and the route is designed to build confidence. You start on easier terrain and progress to more challenging off-road sections. The guide sets the pace and stays with you throughout.
What is the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary like when you arrive?
The sanctuary is a 12.5-hectare forest with over 1,260 long-tailed macaques living among three ancient temples. You walk on shaded paths through the jungle and observe the monkeys in their natural behavior: grooming, playing, and interacting with each other. The atmosphere is peaceful, and the monkeys are accustomed to visitors but remain wild animals in their own habitat.
Is there time to swim at Tegenungan Waterfall?
Yes. Tegenungan Waterfall is a stop on the route where the water pools at the base of the cascade. You can swim or wade in the cold water, and the jungle setting gives you time to rest and take photos before continuing the ride.
What does the eight-hour day include?
The day includes ATV riding with a guide, stops at Tegenungan Waterfall and the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, a buffet lunch with mineral water, safety equipment, shower facilities and changing rooms, hotel pickup and drop-off, and insurance. You choose at checkout whether you ride solo or as a tandem rider.
