The experience

The day starts before dawn: pickup from your Pune hotel or any location in the city at 3:30am, then transfer to Pune Airport for a 5am flight to Delhi. You land at 7:30am and drive three hours via the Yamuna Express Highway to Agra. The route passes through Deer Park on the way. Once in Agra, your guide takes you first to the Taj Mahal, the white marble tomb built in the 17th century by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site and closed every Friday.

After the Taj Mahal, you break for lunch at a restaurant, then visit Agra Fort, another UNESCO site built by Emperor Akbar in 1565 from red sandstone. The fort's courtyards, mosques and private chambers show a blend of Hindu and Central Asian architecture. Your guide walks you through the layout and explains the Mughal history. Time for shopping in Agra follows before you head back to Delhi Airport for the return flight to Pune, which lands in the evening. From Pune Airport, you're dropped at your hotel or your chosen location.

A professional live guide travels with you and speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or two other languages. All transfers use an air-conditioned private vehicle. The package includes monument entry fees, tolls, taxes, parking and driver charges. Complimentary water bottles are provided throughout. If you book the all-inclusive option, both flights and lunch at a restaurant are covered. If you skip flights or lunch, the cost adjusts accordingly.
