If you’re craving fresh air and simple pleasures, this Rishikesh camping trip delivers: bonfire nights, local food, and a hidden waterfall trek—all just far enough from town to feel like an escape.
The first thing that hit me was the quiet—just birds and the crunch of leaves under my shoes as we walked the last stretch to camp. It’s about a 15-minute walk from where you park on the roadside (no parking at the site itself), but honestly, that stroll set the mood. The air felt cooler here, almost piney, and you could hear a faint trickle from the stream below. Our guide, Manoj, waved us over with a grin and helped us settle into our tents—simple but clean, with thick blankets for the chilly night.
By late afternoon, we’d already had our fill of pakoras and sweet chai. Volleyball nets were up, but some folks just lounged on mats, chatting or reading. The real highlight came as dusk settled: bonfire time. Someone played old Bollywood songs on a Bluetooth speaker while we circled up with plates of snacks. The fire crackled, smoke drifting into the trees—honestly, it smelled like every camping trip I ever wanted as a kid.
The next morning started early with a short trek to a nearby waterfall. The path was rocky but manageable—even kids managed fine with some help. We passed through part of Garhwal village; a few locals waved at us from their porches. The waterfall wasn’t huge but felt like our own secret spot—icy water, mossy rocks, and not another group in sight. Breakfast back at camp tasted better after that walk—aloo paratha and hot tea never disappoint out here.
No private parking at camp—just park along the road and walk about 800 meters (15 minutes) to reach the tents. Staff can guide you if needed.
