Bhel Puri at Chowpatty, Pav Bhaji in Central Mumbai, Dosa and Chicken Tikka at Chor Bazaar

A 4-hour evening street food tour of Mumbai where you taste local dishes at three neighborhoods—Chowpatty Beach, Central Mumbai's Pav Bhaji restaurants, and the food stalls of Chor Bazaar—guided by a local English speaker. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included; vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are available, and you can request dietary adjustments at booking.

The Experience

You arrive with a free evening and no plan for dinner. The tour meets you at Eros Cinema in front of Churchgate railway station, or your hotel if you book the private option, and heads straight into Mumbai's street food neighborhoods. A local guide leads a small group (or just you, depending on which option you chose) through the places where Mumbaikars actually eat—not the tourist versions, but the real hotspots where the food moves fast and the flavors are sharp.

Chowpatty Beach is the first stop, where you taste Bhel Puri and Pani Puri—the snacks that define Mumbai's seafront. From there the group moves into Central Mumbai to a Pav Bhaji restaurant, where a butter-loaded curry comes with soft Mumbai buns. The final neighborhood is Chor Bazaar, the market famous for its street food stalls as much as anything else. Here you eat Dosa (a crispy pancake), Chicken Tikka (marinated chicken roasted on a skewer with mint chutney and onions), and hand-made ice cream. The guide helps you find a taxi back, or if you booked the private tour, the driver drops you at your hotel.

Bottled water comes with the tour. If you have dietary needs—vegetarian, non-vegetarian, allergies, or other restrictions—tell the operator at booking and they'll adjust the stops. The whole thing runs about four hours, which means you eat your way through three neighborhoods and still have the rest of your evening free.

Top questions

What's the difference between the group tour and the private tour?

The group street food tour meets at Churchgate railway station with other travelers; the private tour picks you up from your hotel and is just for you or your party. Both follow the same three neighborhoods and food stops.

Can I do this tour if I'm vegetarian?

Yes. Vegetarian options are available at every stop—tell the guide your preference at booking and they'll adjust the tastings. Non-vegetarian dishes are also on offer, so you choose what you eat.

What exactly is Pav Bhaji?

Pav Bhaji is a Mumbai street food made of a spiced vegetable curry (bhaji) served with soft buttered bread rolls (pav). It's one of the city's most iconic dishes and a staple at the Central Mumbai restaurants you'll visit.

Do I need to arrange my own way back to my hotel?

If you book the private tour, the driver drops you back at your hotel. For the group tour, the guide helps you find a taxi or you can use local transport from Chor Bazaar.

Is the tour accessible if I use a wheelchair?

Yes. All areas and surfaces on the tour are wheelchair accessible, and transportation options are wheelchair accessible as well. Service animals are allowed.

How much food do I actually eat on this tour?

You taste multiple dishes across three neighborhoods—Bhel Puri and Pani Puri at Chowpatty, Pav Bhaji in Central Mumbai, and Dosa, Chicken Tikka, and ice cream at Chor Bazaar. It's designed as a tasting tour, so you sample a range rather than a full meal at each stop.
