Mehrangarh Fort sits first on the route, a hilltop complex holding palaces, galleries, ancient temples, and a museum you explore at your own pace. Jaswant Thada follows: a 19th-century royal cenotaph surrounded by gardens where you spend about an hour. The route also passes Toorji Ka Jhalra, a stepwell built in the 1740s by Queen Abhay Singh's consort, its steps designed to follow the water level through the seasons.

Umaid Bhawan Palace is the final stop, a 20th-century palace built to employ 3,000 famine-stricken residents and now a heritage hotel. You visit the palace museum for about an hour, seeing the interior of a building that shaped Jodhpur's modern history. The tuk-tuk waits between stops, and your driver handles navigation and parking. At the end of the day, you're dropped at the airport, railway station, bus station, or back at your hotel.
