The experience
The day starts before the city wakes. You head to the flower and vegetable market while vendors are still arranging their stalls. The colors and energy are sharpest in those early hours, and your driver navigates the narrow lanes where the crowds haven't yet built up. From there, the route moves outward to Amer, a historic town 11 km from the city center, where yellow havelis and ancient temples sit quieter than anything in Jaipur proper. You'll see the Jagat Shiromani Temple, built between 1599 and 1608 by Queen Kanakwati in memory of her son, and the Panna Meena Ka Kund: a 16th-century stepwell with geometric staircases designed to reach water at any level when monsoon rains filled it. Climbing the stairs is now prohibited, but the architecture itself tells the story of how the city solved its water supply.
The route brings you back toward the city center to see Jal Mahal, the Water Palace built as a hunting lodge on Man Sagar Lake, its pink sandstone and symmetrical Rajput design reflected in the water. You'll pass through the Pink City's heritage districts (the yellow and pink buildings that give the city its name), and stop at Gaitore Ki Chhatriyan, where royal cenotaphs honor Jaipur's Maharajas. Lunch happens midday, then you move to the two landmarks most travelers come for: Hawa Mahal, the five-story Palace of Winds with its intricate latticework designed so royal women could watch street life unseen, and the City Palace Museum, a blend of Mughal and Rajput architecture that houses textiles, weapons, and artifacts from the royal family's collection.
You choose how to move through the day: a private AC car with a driver, or a tuk-tuk for a closer feel of the streets. Both options include hotel pickup and drop-off, bottled water, and all fuel and parking. If you add the professional guide, they'll explain what you're seeing in English, Spanish, Italian, French or another language. Without the guide, the driver still knows the route and can point out what matters. The tour suits any fitness level. Most of the day is in the vehicle or walking short distances at each stop.

Is this one for you?Choose the car with guide if you want the history and architecture explained at each stop. The car with driver alone works if you prefer to explore at your own pace and ask questions as they come up. The tuk-tuk option gives you a closer, more open-air feel of the streets and markets, though it's less climate-controlled than the car.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French, German and Italian.
What is the Panna Meena Ka Kund and why is it worth seeing if I can't climb it?
The Panna Meena Ka Kund is a 16th-century stepwell built to collect monsoon rains and supply water to Jaipur during dry seasons. Its geometric staircases were engineered to allow access to water at any depth, and the architecture itself is intricate enough to photograph and study even though climbing is now prohibited by guards stationed there.
Will I have time to actually explore inside Hawa Mahal and the City Palace Museum, or just see them from outside?
The itinerary includes visits to both Hawa Mahal and the City Palace Museum, so you'll have time inside each one. The City Palace Museum houses an impressive collection of art, textiles, and weapons across ornate courtyards and intricate interiors. Hawa Mahal's five stories of latticework and pink sandstone are the main draw, and you can move through at your own pace.
How far is Amer town from central Jaipur, and what makes it different from the Pink City?
Amer is 11 km from the city center and offers a quieter retreat into Jaipur's past compared to the bustling Pink City. It's known for its yellow havelis, ancient temples like the Jagat Shiromani Temple built in the early 1600s, and heritage buildings that feel less crowded than the central markets and landmarks.
What's included in the price, and what do I need to pay for separately?
The tour includes the private vehicle (car or tuk-tuk), English-speaking driver, hotel pickup and drop-off, bottled water, fuel, and parking. Food and drinks during the day are not included, so you'll pay for lunch and any snacks. The professional guide is optional and available as an add-on. Gratuities are also separate.
Can I choose between the car and the tuk-tuk, or is that decided when I book?
You choose your transport when you book: private AC car with driver, car with driver and professional guide, or tuk-tuk. Each option includes hotel pickup and the same route. The difference is comfort level and whether a guide explains the history and architecture along the way.
