The Experience

Hands sticky from the jalebi we picked up in Chandni Chowk, I tried to wipe them on a napkin but gave up—our guide Raj just grinned and handed me another. We’d started the day somewhere quieter, at Humayun’s Tomb, where the air felt cooler and the red sandstone glowed under the morning haze. There was this moment when I stood in the shade and heard nothing but pigeons flapping. It’s weird how peaceful that spot is compared to the honking outside.

We finished with a drive past Deer Park as dusk settled over Delhi. I kept thinking about that first quiet moment at Humayun’s Tomb—the city never really lets you go, you know?
