The experience

You get picked up from your hotel or airport at a time you choose between 8 AM and 10 AM, then spend the day in a private car with a guide who knows the city. The car is air-conditioned and sized for your group: a four-seater sedan for one or two people, a family car for three to five, a van for larger parties. Mineral water is included, and the driver navigates while your guide explains what you're seeing.

The route covers both halves of the city. In New Delhi, you pass India Gate (built to honor 90,000 Indian soldiers from the First World War), Parliament House and the President's House, which spans 2.5 kilometers of corridors and 340 rooms. You stop at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, a Sikh temple where a water tank from 1664 is still used and believed to have healing properties. Then you move into Old Delhi to walk Chandni Chowk, one of the oldest and busiest markets in India, near the Red Fort built by Shah Jahan in the 17th century. Jama Masjid, one of India's largest mosques and also built by Shah Jahan between 1650 and 1656, stands in the same quarter.

Which monuments you enter depends on the option you choose at checkout. If you add entrance fees, you can visit Humayun's Tomb (a UNESCO site commissioned in 1569 by Humayun's first wife and designed by Persian architects), the Lotus Temple (a Baháʼí house of worship with 27 marble petals, opened in 1986 and holding 1,300 people), and Swaminarayan Akshardham, a Hindu temple complex showcasing traditional and modern Hindu culture and architecture. Note that both the Lotus Temple and Akshardham remain closed on Mondays. In the evening, you get a free transfer back to your hotel or any location in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad or Faridabad.
