After lunch (on your own), the route heads to the Wagah Border, 28 km from the city. The India-Pakistan border crossing is the only one between the two countries, and the evening ceremony there centers on the flag hoisting and lowering: a coordinated display of precision and pageantry performed by border security forces from both sides. The changing of the guard happens with deliberate skill, and the energy of the crowd and the formality of the ritual make it the day's climax. Pickup runs about 10 hours total, though exact timing shifts with traffic and the time of day.
