The Experience

So our morning in Roatan started with me realizing I’d left my sunscreen in the hotel lobby (classic). Our guide, Ana, just laughed and handed me her spare—she said “the sun here doesn’t mess around.” That kind of set the tone for the day. We didn’t have a strict plan, which felt weird at first but turned out to be perfect. Ana asked what we were hoping for and somehow read between our answers—she suggested starting with the monkeys and sloths before it got too hot. I’m not usually a “hold an animal” person but…there’s something about having a sleepy sloth draped over your arm that makes you forget you’re sweaty and awkward.
