The experience

The tour picks you up from your accommodation or airport and drives you to Tikal National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site deep in the Petén jungle. Once there, your guide leads you through the main archaeological complexes (the central square, Northern Acropolis, Lost World and Temple IV), pointing out the structures and explaining the Mayan civilization that built them. You walk the park's main roads at a pace the group can manage together, stopping at each complex to explore.

Midway through the day you'll have lunch with four options to choose from, including a vegetarian dish. The meal breaks up the walking and gives you time to rest before the return journey. You head back to your hotel or airport, arriving around 5:00 pm with the rest of the afternoon free.
