Antigua Villages ATV Cultural Tour
- Visit Valhalla Macadamia Farm
- Explore Ciudad Vieja and its church
- Tour jade factory in San Pedro Las Huertas
- Visit chocolate factory and nispero museum
- Return to hotel
The experience
You drive your own ATV through the highlands around Antigua, stopping at four villages that each have something specific to show. The route starts at Valhalla Macadamia Farm in San Miguel Dueñas, where you learn how macadamia nuts move from plantation to finished products (jams, oils, baked goods), and walk the farm's grounds yourself. From there you ride to Ciudad Vieja, the first formal Spanish settlement in Guatemala after the conquest, to see the church that once served as the first cathedral in Central America. The stops are short enough that you spend most of the three to four hours actually riding, not standing around.
San Pedro Las Huertas is a working jade town. You watch artisans polish and shape jade stones (emerald green, dark green, black, pink, lilac, white) into bracelets, necklaces and home décor. The final stop is San Juan del Obispo, known for loquats. You visit a chocolate factory to see how cacao fruit becomes cocoa beans and then chocolate, cocoa tea and chocolate bars, then tour the nispero (loquat) museum to see what the town produces from that fruit. A certified guide rides with the group and explains each stop in English or Spanish.
You choose your vehicle at checkout: ATV or bike if you want to ride yourself, or a private car or mule vehicle if you prefer to be driven. Hotel pickup and drop-off in Antigua are included, and the tour is open to anyone 18 and older. Safety equipment comes with the ATV or bike option.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
What is Valhalla Macadamia Farm and what do you actually do there?
Valhalla Macadamia Farm in San Miguel Dueñas is a working plantation where macadamia nuts grow and are processed into finished products. You walk the grounds, see the trees and learn how the nuts are harvested, shelled and turned into oils, jams, baked goods and other foods.
Can I really see the first cathedral in Central America on this tour?
Yes. Ciudad Vieja's church was the first cathedral in Central America when it was built in 1534, after the Spanish conquest. You stop there to see it and take photos before riding to the next village.
What happens at the jade workshop in San Pedro Las Huertas?
San Pedro Las Huertas has a jade factory where artisans polish, shape and carve jade stones into jewelry and home items. You watch the process and see jade in different colors (emerald green, dark green, black, pink, lilac and white) before they become finished pieces like bracelets and necklaces.
Do I have to ride an ATV, or can I choose a different vehicle?
You pick your vehicle at checkout: ATV or bike if you want to operate it yourself, or a private car or mule vehicle if you prefer to be driven. All options follow the same route and stops.
What is the nispero museum in San Juan del Obispo?
San Juan del Obispo is famous for growing loquats (nisperos in Spanish). The nispero museum shows what the town produces from the fruit (alcohol, jams, bread and other goods), and you also visit a chocolate factory at the same stop to see how cacao becomes chocolate and cocoa products.
