This is a self-driven ATV or UTV tour from Antigua Guatemala that takes you up Hobbitenango mountain—the only vehicle access to the summit—then down to El Hato Verde forest and its Malla Maya viewpoint. You choose between a four-wheeler ATV (1–2 passengers) or a UTV buggy (2–3 passengers) at checkout, both included at the same price. The Experience

You meet at the starting point and head toward Aldea Vuelta Grande, climbing toward Hobbitenango Park while the volcanoes—Agua, Fuego and Acatenango—come into view. The ATV or UTV is yours to drive; there's no other way up this mountain in a vehicle from Antigua. Once you park at the top, you step out into the Hobbitenango grounds: a Hobbit-themed park where you can photograph the viewpoints, play mini golf, and swing on the giant swing while the three volcanoes sit in the distance.

From there, the route continues to El Hato Verde, a forest property with its own restaurant and the Malla Maya—a suspended viewpoint that looks out over the canopy. You have time to walk around, eat if you want (food is not included), and take in the landscape before heading back to the vehicles for the return drive to the meeting point.

The guide rides along and speaks English, Spanish or French. Helmets and goggles are provided. If you're bringing children, infants can sit on an adult's lap; the tour welcomes kids from age 1 onward. Decide before booking whether you want the ATV (lighter, nimbler, seats 1–2) or the UTV buggy (more spacious, seats 2–3)—the price stays the same either way.
