The hike starts in Antigua and climbs through four distinct ecosystems in a single afternoon. You'll pass lush agricultural fields where farmers grow corn and snow peas, then enter a tropical cloud forest that provides shade on the steep sections. After a trail lunch in the high-alpine forest—where six volcanoes come into view—you reach the wind-swept volcanic terrain at 12,300 ft where the basecamp sits. The glamping tents here have cots, mattresses and sleeping bags; dinner, coffee and tea happen around the campfire while Volcan Fuego erupts across the valley and the sky fills with stars.

The next morning, an early breakfast fuels a one-hour push to the summit. The final climb is steep, but the 360-degree view from 13,041 ft spans Fuego, the Antigua Valley and the Guatemalan highlands stretching toward Mexico. You'll spend roughly an hour at the top taking in the panorama, then descend for three hours back to La Soledad where transportation waits. Most groups return to Antigua by early afternoon, leaving time to rest or celebrate.

Transportation from Antigua, entrance fees, all meals (lunch, dinner and breakfast), sleeping gear, trekking poles and a pre-trip briefing are included. The basecamp also has a wi-fi network and bag storage if you want to leave extra luggage behind. A live guide in your choice of English, Spanish or French leads the entire hike.
