The experience

The drive to Concord Waterfalls takes 30 to 40 minutes from your hotel on the west side of the island. Once you arrive, you'll swim in the first falls before the hike begins. The real journey starts when you leave Concord behind and head uphill for 30 minutes over river crossings toward Fontainebleau Waterfall, the sister falls deeper in the rainforest. The path is rough and uneven (this is not a manicured trail), but it leads to water that feels untouched.

At Fontainebleau, you can take another dip in the cool rainforest river and spend time photographing the falls and the landscape around you. Your guide speaks English throughout and will be with you for the full outing. The tour runs 3 to 4 hours total, which includes the drive, both swimming stops, and the hiking time between them. Bottled water and an air-conditioned vehicle for transport are included.
