Step ashore Kastani Beach and swim where Mamma Mia’s iconic scenes came alive

A full-day cruise from Skiathos port visits Kastani Beach on Skopelos—where the 2008 film was shot—plus Panormos port and Milia Beach, with swimming time at each stop and an English-speaking guide aboard. The boat departs Skiathos and sails a north-easterly course; you can add a visit to Agios Ioannis Chapel during the sail to Kastani. Boat ticket and all fees are included; food, drinks and the chapel visit cost extra. The cruise runs about 7.5 hours.

Step-by-step itinerary

Cruise to Mamma Mia Island beaches

  • Depart from Skiathos Port
  • Sail north-east to Skopelos Island
  • Stop at Kastani Beach for swimming and sunbathing
  • Sail to Panormos port
  • Explore Panormos and have lunch
  • Sail to Milia Beach
  • Relax at Milia Beach

The Experience

The boat leaves Skiathos Port and heads north-east toward Skopelos. After roughly 25 minutes of sailing, you reach Kastani Beach, the sandy bay enclosed by two small islets where most of the Mamma Mia scenes were filmed. The turquoise water and white sand are the real draw here—you'll have time to swim and sunbathe before the boat moves on. If you want to visit Agios Ioannis Chapel (the chapel from the film), you can book that separately during the sail over.

From Kastani, it's another 25 minutes to Panormos port on the north coast. This is the longest stop of the day: you can explore the village, eat lunch at one of the waterfront taverns, or just sit and watch the water. There's no fixed itinerary here—the time is yours to use as you need.

The final destination is Milia Beach, considered the jewel of Skopelos. Thin pebbles, pine trees crowning the shoreline, and clear water make it feel different from Kastani. You'll have swimming time here before the boat heads back to Skiathos. The whole day is about 7.5 hours from start to finish.

What’s included

Is this one for you?Book the option with transfer if your hotel is away from Skiathos Port and you'd rather not arrange a taxi on arrival day; choose the cruise-only option if you're staying near the port or have your own way there. Either way, the fixed schedule and guide mean the three beaches, the sailing time and the lunch stop all fit into one afternoon without you building the day yourself.

Top questions

Can I get picked up from my hotel, or do I need to get to Skiathos Port myself?

The tour offers two options at checkout: one includes hotel pickup and transfer to the port, and one is the cruise only. Choose the option with transfer if you don't have your own transport to the port.

What is Kastani Beach like compared to the other stops?

Kastani is the famous Mamma Mia filming location with turquoise water, white sand and two small islets framing the bay. Panormos is a working port village where you can eat and explore. Milia is larger and more developed, with pebbles instead of sand and pine trees lining the shore—many consider it the most scenic of the three.

Is the Agios Ioannis Chapel visit included in the cruise price?

No—the chapel visit is a separate booking you can add at checkout. The boat passes it during the sail to Kastani, so you can see it from the water either way.

What's included in the ticket price, and what do I need to pay for separately?

The boat ticket and all fees and taxes are included. Food, drinks and the chapel visit are not; you'll buy lunch at Panormos taverns or bring your own supplies.

Is this cruise suitable if I'm traveling with young children?

Yes—infants and small children can travel in a pram or stroller, and infants can sit on an adult's lap. The cruise is suitable for all fitness levels. Pregnant travelers are not recommended for this tour.
