The boat leaves Athinios and heads across the caldera toward the Santorini Volcano. Once there, you walk up the volcanic path to explore the active crater, where lava rocks, steaming vents, and rugged terrain come into view. The guide explains the volcanic history that shaped the island's landscape while you stand among the geological evidence — no interpretation center, just the crater itself and the Aegean stretching out below.

Next is a 30-minute stop at the Hot Springs. The water is warm from volcanic activity, and swimmers can float in the thermal mineral bath surrounded by the caldera walls. It's a straightforward swim in open water, so comfort in the sea matters here. After that, the boat sails to Thirassia, the traditional island across the caldera from Santorini's main towns. You have roughly two hours to choose: swim in clear water off the beach, sit at a taverna right by the shore and order local food, or simply rest away from the crowds. The boat picks you up at a set time and returns to Athinios.

Volcano entrance fees are paid in cash on site. Bring a swimsuit, towel, and cash for any meals or drinks on Thirassia — the tavernas are there, but nothing is included beyond the boat ride and the guide.
