A five-hour private snorkeling and fishing activity on a 52ft wooden boat off Santorini's south coast, led by a local female captain. You fish (or watch), swim in clear water, snorkel among the catch, and eat dinner made from what the boat brought in, with local wine and sunset views of the volcanic coastline included. Children from age 3 are welcome; pickup is included.

The Experience

The boat leaves in the late afternoon and heads to the south coast, where the water stays clear and the volcanic cliffs rise behind you. You can fish alongside the captain—she'll show you how to use the bait if you want to try—or watch from the deck while others cast. The catch is usually medium-sized rock fish and breams, though bigger fish like barracuda turn up occasionally. Snorkeling equipment is on board; you swim and snorkel in the same water where the lines are in the water, moving between fishing and swimming as the evening unfolds.

Dinner happens on board as the sun drops toward the horizon. The kitchen cooks the fish you caught that day, and it arrives at your table with local wine, soda, water and coffee included. The volcanic landscape of southern Santorini—the cliffs at Oia, White Beach and Red Beach—frames the view while you eat. There's no crowd noise, no restaurant rush; it's just the boat, the catch and the people you came with.

The captain speaks English, Italian, Arabic or Greek, so the commentary and instruction come through clearly. Children from age 3 ride along; kids older than 10 can learn to bait a hook and fish themselves if they want to. Towels and all snorkeling gear are provided, and the boat accommodates infant seats if you're traveling with very small children.
