The Experience
You board at the traditional port of Ammoudi and spend the morning sailing the caldera. The boat passes the volcano and stops at the hot springs for roughly 30 minutes—you swim in water warmed by the volcanic rock below, then return to the deck to watch the rim rise above you as you sail back out. The thermal soak is the thing most people come for; it's the one stop you can't replicate from land.
By mid-morning the catamaran anchors at white beach and mesa Pigadia for about an hour. You can swim, snorkel or stay on the shaded deck while the crew prepares a Greek BBQ—pork chops, chicken fillet or kebab skewers, with vegetarian options available if you request them at booking. The meal comes with tzatziki, dolmadakia, Greek salad, seafood, bread and a traditional dessert. An open bar runs throughout the day: Santorinian wine, Greek ouzo, beer, juice and water are all included.
The third stop is the volcanic red beach, where you get another 30 minutes to swim or snorkel before heading back to Vlychada Port. The whole day runs about five hours. Scheduled times shift with weather and the sunset, so the operator adjusts the route as needed. If you book the option with transfer, a driver picks you up from your hotel and brings you back.
