Swim in turquoise bays taste local wine and sail Cycladic waters

You’ll board a traditional kaiki in Paros for a slow day of swimming in turquoise coves near Antiparos and Despotiko. Snorkel where white rocks meet bright blue sea, share Mediterranean lunch with local wine on deck, and listen as your guide brings Cycladic stories to life between stops. It’s less about rushing and more about feeling sun-warmed salt on your skin.

6h–7h

Step-by-step itinerary

Full-day boat trip around Antiparos

  • Depart from Pounda Port
  • Swim and snorkel at Padieronissia islands
  • Relax and snorkel at Panagia Faneromeni bay
  • Snorkel and cliff jump at Mastichari coast
  • Explore Epitaphios cave area and refresh
  • Visit Despotiko Island archaeological site
  • Swim and enjoy wine at Psaralki Antiparos
  • Return to Pounda Port

The Experience

We climbed onto the wooden kaiki at Pounda Port, the kind of boat that creaks a little when you walk but feels sturdy somehow. Our guide, Kostas, had this sun-baked look and an easy laugh — he handed me a mask and said, “You’ll want this.” I didn’t realize how clear the water would be until we anchored at Padieronissia. The sea was almost glassy blue-green, and when I jumped in it was cold at first but then just… perfect. Someone nearby let out a yelp — apparently there were tiny fish nibbling toes. I floated on my back for a minute, just watching the sky drift by.

Next stop was Panagia Faneromeni bay. The rocks here are white and almost blinding under the sun; some folks tried cliff jumping (not me — maybe next time). Kostas pointed to a cluster of goats picking their way along the cliffs, totally unfazed by us splashing around below. The salt on my skin started to itch a bit but lunch was coming up — grilled vegetables, feta, bread still warm from somewhere nearby, and this local white wine that tasted like summer afternoons. Li laughed when I tried to say “efcharistó” properly; pretty sure I butchered it.

We sailed past Mastichari’s wild coastline and into the shadow of Epitaphios cave — it felt suddenly quiet there except for water lapping at stone. There’s something about caves that makes everyone whisper without meaning to. We couldn’t go ashore at Despotiko’s archaeological site (it’s closed), but Kostas told us stories about Apollo’s sanctuary as we drifted close enough to see marble blocks poking through dry grass. Last swim was off Psaraliki — I stayed in the water too long and came out wrinkled as an old fig. On the way back, someone passed around slices of melon that tasted like sunshine.

What’s included

  • Your day includes all use of snorkeling equipment so you can explore every cove we anchor at.
  • Mediterranean-style lunch with fresh bread and grilled vegetables served onboard.
  • plenty of local white wine and soft drinks.
  • plus seasonal fruit before sailing back to Paros in the late afternoon.
